Countries & their legends! Africa.

Its that time again.

Time for a few more legends from popular destinations around the world.

Last time we were in the United Kingdom, Great Britian.

This time we’re doing the triple jump, taking a hop, skip & jump to 3 countries on the Continent of Africa.

Now once again countries have many legends but I can only pick a few.

So if my choice offends you in any way, then you can gladly go ahead & complain at:-

We’re starting off with HOP

To the mighty,

South Africa.

My legend for South Africa is,

Nelson Mandela.

Ofcourse it is…!

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Born 18th July 1918, in Mveza, Cape Province, Union of South Africa. To the Thembo Royal Family. Sadly died 5th Dec, 2013.

He was an anti apartheid revolutionary, politician & philanthropist. Who after much struggle, finally served as President of South Africa from 1994-1999. Becoming the country’s 1st black head of state.

He focused on dismantling the legacy of Apartheid by tackling the deep routed racism in the country.

Everyone in the world knows Mandela & quite rightly too!

Amongst his many awards, he won the Noble Peace Prize in 1993. He’s got my full respect & will always be remembered by each generation as a world figure & a true legend. Thats why he’s top of the pops on my legend list today.

A very strong man, who served 27 long, hard years in prison before changing the future of South Africa & maybe the world forever.

I loved his book, Long Walk To Freedom & my favourite quote is,

“When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.”

Yeah Nelson..!

Mandela the Legend…!

Now we SKIP

jonathan edwards

to our next country & legend which is,

My legend is,

Roger Milla.

Thats right folks, Roger is a living legend in Cameroon.

Born 20th May 1952 in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Albert Roger Mooh Miller, is a retired footballing legend. He became the 1st African player to be a major star on the international stage. Playing in 3 world cups for Cameroon.

His country love him. He achieved stardom at 38. Helping Cameroon to become the 1st African team to reach the world cup quarter finals. Wherever he goes today he’s till mobbed by his people & adored by his country.

His outrageous football dance after scoring a goal put a smile on everyones face including mine. Thats why he made my list today.

Go on Roger, one more time.

Lets see that dance.

Ok for our final stop, we JUMP

over to,

Our legend is,

yes you guessed it.

Haile Gebre Selassie.

Another living legend, who represents Ethiopia in athletics, long distance running. Now retired.

Damn can this guy run…!

Born 18th April 1973, in Asella, Arsi Province, Ethiopia.

He has a total of 10 gold, 3 silver & 3 bronze medals in athletics.

Adored by his country & made his name throughout the world, breaking 61 Ethiopian national records & setting an amazing 27 world records. Gaining him international stardom.

Yeah man.. Run Forest Run….!

In 1999, Haile starred as himself in the movie, Endurance. Which was a very good film, if I do say so myself.

Trust me this guy is a legend in Ethiopia & thats why he’s made my legend list today.

Well sadly thats it folks.

Thanks for reading & join me next time on,

‘Countries & their Legends.’

Take care Travellers 😜
